story
iver and isla first launched in 2018 with a capsule collection of children's clothing items, small batch made in montana and california. after her fifth child was born, founder Amanda Hartman, took a break from the brand, needing a chance to soak in those precious days with her last baby. during this time iver and isla's vision was realigned to reflect the changes she felt deeply; the home-place is special
and so we have pivoted, still with an emphasis on slow production, but now leaning into hard-wearing knits steeped in our own homeland of montana. a little western homestead mixed with scandinavian handicraft; we hope you like where the brand is headed :)
iver and isla captures the longing for a return to high-quality and ethically made fashion. our dream is a small closet of handmade garments which can be passed down to be loved over and over again
dreamed up in montana. made in peru.
why peru?
peru has thousands of years of knitting history, a skill passed down through the generations. our knitter are parents, like us, using their skills to create beauty for others to enjoy. we have met many of our amazing knitters and are so thankful for them!
not only is peru producing some of the finest quality fibers in the world it is also leading the way on fair treatment of workers. substandard labor conditions plague the apparel industry, but in peru labor standards are high ensuring fair treatment and payment of the workers
our manufacturers use ethical and sustainable practices, which we see first hand when we visit
many of our items are handknit and some are made using a loom, which is akin to a sewing machine, and is still a very hands-on and time intensive process. some of the more intricate knit patterns are machine knit and then finished by hand
those who have been shown mercy, show mercy. we will donate a portion of our profits to organizations striving to love people and the earth
thank you for choosing to support our small business!
